About Me

Hi, I’m Kelli — an OB-GYN, kidney transplant survivor, and traveler sharing honest reflections on medicine, burnout, and life beyond the hospital through the JetlaggedOB.

Delivering babies is my career.

Travel is how I recharge and remember the world is bigger than the hospital.

Perspective Changes Everything

My perspective on life shifted after a serious illness that ultimately led to a kidney transplant. When your health abruptly rearranges your priorities, “someday” stops feeling like a guarantee.

Experiences like that change how you think about time, work, and what actually matters.

Living without regrets isn’t a slogan for me — it’s a conscious choice shaped by gratitude and the very real understanding that bodies are fragile, even when you’re the doctor in the room.

Once you’ve had your health rearrange your priorities, you stop waiting for the perfect time to see the world.

The Doctor Part

After more than a decade in obstetrics, I’ve learned that the most important parts of the job are human. Delivering babies means showing up for people during some of the most intense and life-changing moments of their lives.

I believe deeply in informed consent and in giving patients clear, honest information so they can make the decisions that are right for them. I’m naturally straightforward because clarity builds trust.

My priority is always the same: the safety of the patient.

At the end of the day, my job is simple — keep patients safe, give them the truth, and stand firmly on their side.

Life Outside the Hospital

When I’m not navigating the beautifully broken healthcare system, I’m traveling — sometimes to recharge, sometimes to escape, often both.

I’m also an avid reader, because sometimes the best stress relief is getting lost in a good book instead of another screen.

I’m not a “rough it for character building” kind of traveler. I believe rest counts more when there’s good food, a comfortable bed, and zero guilt about enjoying it.

Why This Blog Exists

This blog is where medicine, travel, humor, and blunt honesty intersect.

I write about burnout, travel adventures, joy, and the complicated balance between caring for others and remembering to care for yourself. You’ll find reflections from the call room, observations from airport lounges, and the occasional reminder that wellness emails don’t fix moral injury.

Sometimes, the best way to stay grounded in medicine is to step outside the hospital and remember there’s a much bigger world out there.

A Little More About Me

I was born and raised in Northeast Ohio, which explains both my work ethic and my sarcasm. I’m close with my family, recently moved in with my boyfriend, and learning — in real time — how to build a life that doesn’t revolve entirely around a call schedule.

If you’re here because you work in healthcare, feel burned out but still care, love travel without pretending it solves everything, or just appreciate honesty with a side of humor — welcome.

This little corner of the internet is where @JetlaggedOB shares stories from the call room, reflections from airport lounges, and the ongoing attempt to build a life that includes both caring for others and seeing more of the world.

Delivering babies for a living.
